Created as a proof of concept for realtime roomscale ads and short form storytelling, Firestorm was Studio229's first foray into realtime VR. We took our love of sci-fi, VR and story based advertisements and married them into what became Firestorm. Placed in the role of a low paid scout team who discover a unique artifact on a hostile lava planet. In a race against time you must uncover the mysteries of the artifact before the firestorm reaches you. With your broken comms system your pilot can't communicate efficiently and you can't do what's needed before the storm arrives. The storm is growing worse, the unknown artifact is looking pretty ominous and your pilot buddy just left you to die. The storm engulfs you and the artifact blinds you as you meet your demise. Fade into a retro 1980s logo and you realize it was all just an immersive advertisement.
